2-year-old Luul Hassan sits on the lap of her mother, eating from a sachet of ready-to-use therapeutic food after being assessed for malnutrition.

At the outpatient centre in the Alla Futo camp for internally displaced people on the outskirts of Mogadishu, Somalia, little Luul was diagnosed with severe acute malnutrition. She was treated with therapeutic milk, essential micronutrients, and other medications to aid her recovery. Luul now receives ready-to-use therapeutic food (RUTF), a vital component in the recovery process from acute malnutrition.
