Domingas Colo helps teach Infant and Young Child Feeding, Counselling and Key Care Practices on Maternal and Child health in the community of Suco Bobometo, Special Administrative Region of Oe-Cusse Ambeno, Timor-Leste.

Domingas Colo, on important role she is playing to promote the health and wellbeing of babies, pregnant women and breastfeeding mothers in Timor-Leste.

"It is a great opportunity for me to help my community, especially children under five and pregnant and lactating women. I support my community, by doing nutrition screening such as taking mid-upper arm circumference (MUAC) measurements, encouraging mothers to exclusively breastfeed their child for the first six months and for them to provide appropriate complementary feeding to babies after six months. I also support pregnant women to have antenatal care and delivery at a health facility and not at home," says Domingas Colo.

She added that since her training, she has noticed positive changes within her community, such as more mothers are now delivering at health facilities, where they are supported to initiate breastfeeding within an hour. A healthy start in life is one of the greatest gifts for children everywhere.
